Juniors and Seniors Can Live On Campus Too!
By: Stuart Davis
Gonzaga University Department of Housing and Residence Life strives to be a comprehensive housing service to all students, including those who do not wish to live in University owned/managed properties. For students completing their second of the two year residence requirement, we offer an early spring sign up opportunity for on campus apartment community housing. In this category of housing, we offer single bedrooms in 2, 3, and 4 bedroom apartment spaces.
We encourage any and all students interested in this option to delay their search for housing until February, and to go through our on-line process to attempt to secure space as a third year student in one of several wonderful upper division apartment communities. In the past few years we have exited this on line process with less than 50 on a wait list. And, those on that list who were patient enough to wait, we placed on campus by late July, if not much, much earlier.
For those not interested in the waiting list, we assist them in their off campus search for space. For mid to late spring, there are still plenty of housing options within walking distance of GU, owned and managed by private landlords.
Students are encouraged to be patient and to not think about housing options until spring semester. Just focus on fall classes and enjoy the holidays, and let us help you with housing beginning in the spring. Don’t fall victim to the notion floated by some landlords that by early fall there are limited places off campus. This is a ploy by a select few landlords to hype up interest and secure tenants early. It is not based in reality.
