Spring Break Bay Area Treks
By: Danamarie McNicholl-Carter, Career Center
My name is Danamarie McNicholl-Carter. I am a sophomore at Gonzaga University and the current Employer Outreach and Communications Intern at the Career Center & GAMP. Part of my job description entails making sure your student knows about the invaluable career development opportunities hosted by the Career Center each year. I am excited to spread the word to students about the Trek program, which is designed to engage students in career development and networking opportunities with alumni and potential employers in key metro areas. Through the Treks, students get to meet recruiters and learn about internship and job opportunities, visit exciting and innovative companies on a corporate excursion, and network with employers and alumni over dinner. Overall, I really cannot stress enough the importance of the Treks because they have something to offer everyone! This month I am highlighting the upcoming Bay Area Treks that are happening over Spring Break. When discussing Spring Break plans with your student, I encourage you to direct them to www.zagtrax.net where they can register for this opportunity!
In an effort to create opportunities for all students, regardless of class year or major, the Career Center has put together a wide range of corporate excursions. This year, students will have the opportunity to visit the following companies:
Thursday March 12, Silicon Valley
Choice 1: Google, eBay, Dtex Excursion – Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, PR/Marketing, Operations, Business Administration, etc.
Choice 2: Google, Chegg, and Intel Security Excursion – Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Operations, Business Administration, PR, Sales, etc.
Friday March 13, San Francisco
Choice 1: Salesforce & LinkedIn Excursion – Business Administration, PR, Marketing/Communications, Sales, Customer Service, Project Management, etc.
Choice 2: Glassdoor & Fair Trade USA Excursion – Arts & Sciences, Sustainability, Marketing/Communications, PR, Business Administration, International Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, etc.
Choice 3: Wells Fargo & TBD (all class years) – Finance, Economics, Business Administration
Following the excursions on both days, students have the opportunity to further engage with alumni in the region during a networking social and dinner featuring key note speakers and updates from University administrators. Regional alumni look forward to these events every year and are excited to meet and mingle with your student! Local parents are also welcome to join for the social and dinner.
Your student can register on ZagTrax.net, or you can register them here: https://gonzaga-csm.symplicity.com/events/ (please note, there is a $35 fee to participate in each of the cities, or $60 to participate in both). Please feel free to contact the Career Center & GAMP with questions at 509-313-4234 or careercenter&gamp@gonzaga.edu. Registration is open now and excursions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so encourage your student to register today!
