Resident Assistant (RA)
Your student will have a fellow student as an assigned RA in your living space. They are a fantastic resource for you and desire to assist you with your transition to Gonzaga University. Besides being an amazing resource for you personally, they will periodically coordinate events for your hall or floor.
Residence Director (RD) or Graduate Residence Director (GRD)
Live-in professional with direct oversight of the building or area of buildings as well as all RAs in that area. They are great resources if your student aspires to become an RA, too!
Student Chaplain (SC)
The SCs are located in Dussault Hall and Madonna Hall. These students are around to provide spiritual guidance no matter what faith your student identifies with.
Live-In Chaplain
Located in a few residence halls, Chaplains provide pastoral care, mission education, and spiritual and faith resources for students, faculty and staff within their residential community.
Living-Learning Communities (LLCs)
These seven specialized communities are currently located in Coughlin, Goller, Marian, and Lincoln. These distinct communities focus on encountering cultures, women for others, the whole person (cura personalis), leadership, engineering, outdoor pursuits, and biology. Studies have shown that students typically fare better in college if they actively participate in an LLC.
Block Council
The block council in each residential area is made up of students selected by their peers to provide effective leadership within the residence area. Through assessment, discussion and evaluation, block councils work closely with Housing and Residence Life and other campus partners to represent and meet student needs through event programming and advocacy. Each block council reports to RHA.
Residence Hall Association (RHA)
RHA is the student organization that works to improve the quality of life in the residence halls. They promote the voice of the students, by being an advocate for resident needs and sponsor events within the residence halls. Simply put, we are here for you!
