The Study Abroad Office Moved to Hemmingson
By: Richard Menard, Study Abroad Director
Study Abroad has been a department in the Center for Global Engagement for several years. The Center for Global Engagement consists of the English Language Center, International Student and Scholar Services, and the Study Abroad Office. The Center was created about four years ago to centralize all international operations and to focus Gonzaga’s international strategy.
The English Language Center offer intensive English Languages classes for foreign students seeking undergraduate and graduate admission to Gonzaga and other universities, as well as to assist international professionals in improving their overall English language abilities.
International Student and Scholar Services works with all international students attending Gonzaga. They help them with their visas to come to the U.S. in addition to offering orientations, support, and on-going training for students from Brazil, China, Colombia, Poland, and Saudi Arabia. Gonzaga has around 227 international students on campus. ISSS is now located in Hemmingson.
The Study Abroad office sent 591 student abroad last year. If you are interested to learn more about the places we go, check out the Study Abroad Annual Report.
