What’s in a Career and Internship Fair?
As soon as students hit Bulldog Alley in late August, they have begun to make decisions about which event, which club, which activity NOT to miss! When it comes to “what-NOT-to-miss” in the area of Career and Professional Development, we think in seasons.
September brings Fall Recruiting Season within accounting firms, and the first of our annual Treks to New York! Finance and accounting students prepare resumes and hone interviewing skills for competitive internship positions with accounting firms. Some employers arrive on campus for interviews, while others meet students as they participate in excursions on Wall Street.
But, October is Career Month at Gonzaga. That translates into opportunities for ALL Zags, from First Year to Graduate students with two significant Career and Internship Fairs to be held on campus.
The Engineering Career and Internship Fair is October 25th and the All-Majors Career and Internship Fair is October 26th.
These are opportunities for our students to meet and network and even interview with potential employers who want to hire Zags! At each fair, Career and Professional Development works to bring many organizations of a variety of industries to campus for an afternoon of connecting with our students. Even for students who are not seeking immediate jobs or internships, these fairs are very beneficial. They serve to give students exposure to areas they can consider for future employment and practice their networking skills.
To assist students in preparation of these fairs, we host several prior events including a networking prep session, resume reviews, and mock interviews. These opportunities are designed to ensure that our students are confident, professional and ready to meet possible future employers.
Career and Internship Fairs are very valuable tools for career development so please encourage your student to join us on the 25th and 26th of October!
*Career and Professional Development (CPD) is located in CROSBY, right in the center of campus. Come on by, and let’s start a conversation!
