Transforming Together
By: Career and Professional Development
September signals the start of new things on the Gonzaga campus. Classes begin, friendships grow, and everywhere there is something different to see, learn and experience.
This September in Career & Professional Development (CPD), something else is transformed-our building, our programs, and even our staff!
Transforming Together has been the theme for the summer in Career & Professional Development (CPD). First, the CPD offices on the first floor of Crosby have been going through a dramatic transformation. As the new year begins, visitors will find a completely reconfigured space to include a new reception desk, a conference room, a seminar room and open area for ProReps (student career paraprofessionals) programming.
CPD considers this a “purpose design studio” – a creative environment that provides the opportunity for students to evaluate themselves, explore the world of work, and engage with career educators. As St. Ignatius calls his followers to “Go forth, and set the world on fire,” the CPD team hopes the new Crosby space will serve as a spark to help students define purpose in their own lives.
Also, the CPD counseling team completed the Global Career Development Facilitator training this summer which included over 160 hours of reading, studying, homework, classroom instruction and role playing. As a result, the CPD team is even more prepared to lead students in the career and purpose development process.
The next time you are on campus, we welcome you to come by and see this wonderful new space where students gather, learn and grow in their professional purpose. Remind your student to begin their plan. CPD hours, services and resources are available on our website, www.gonzaga.edu/careers or better yet, encourage them to drop by!
