Important Updates from the Financial Aid Office
2017-2018 FAFSA is Now Available!
Earlier this year, the Department of Education released a notification that the 2017-2018 FAFSA would be available beginning October 1, 2016, so it is now available for completion by families! The 2017-2018 FAFSA is based on 2015 tax information. The idea behind the change to an earlier FAFSA based on the prior year’s tax information is for easier completion of the FAFSA with a more accurate estimate for financial aid packages. The Office of Financial Aid is currently preparing for the 2017-2018 financial aid year and is happy to answer any questions you may have about this transition to an early FAFSA. Some helpful tips to remember:
- Both you and your student will need to apply for or retrieve your FSA ID for FAFSA completion. It is recommended that you keep your FSA ID information in a safe place where it can easily be retrieved.
- We encourage you to complete the IRS data transfer through FAFSA for the most accurate information reported. If you feel your information may not accurately reflect what is happening currently with your financial situation, you can contact our office for more information.
- Complete the FAFSA now! There is no need to wait and you’ll feel better that it has been done!
The Office of Financial Aid is now using Docusign!
Docusign is a system that allows us to send all those important documents, such as verification paperwork, that may require your signature! With DocuSign, we email you and your student any necessary forms from our office, requesting completion and your signature. Your e-signature can even be customized, if you prefer! No printing, faxing, forwarding or resending is required. You can complete the form, sign and electronically return it to our office with ease! Forms will also be available through our website and through ZagWeb for completion, so keep an eye out for these new and exciting features from our office!
