Does Your Student Want to Help Lead Orientation?
Orientation Weekend would not be possible without the help and support of the entire Zag community. What makes Orientation Weekend so special are the student leaders who make new students, parents, and families feel welcome by helping our new community members unload their vehicles during move in, run small groups, and support parents and families. First Year Experience Programs and Parent and Family Relations need to have over 220 student leaders to help welcome the Class of 2021 this Fall. Please encourage your amazing Zag to give their time and service to help welcome our students to Gonzaga University!
Orientation Leaders serve as the student ambassadors for Gonzaga University, New Student Orientation, and Parent and Family Orientation. They are instrumental in guiding our diverse first year students, transfer students, and parents and families during this important time of transition to life at Gonzaga University. As a Jesuit, Catholic institution, Orientation Leaders are vital in living out Gonzaga University’s mission where we “educate students for lives of leadership and service for the common good.” It is a volunteer position that provides important leadership opportunities. Students are asked to be available to support Orientation Weekend August 22 – 28, 2017.
Orientation leaders will be able to move in to their on campus fall residence hall assignments on Tuesday, August 22nd at no additional cost, receive staff t-shirts and bags, and will participate in all Orientation Weekend traditions. We will ensure each member of our team is equipped with the training necessary to do their job. All that is required is for your student to be willing to make connections with new students, come back to campus a week earlier, and attend our mandatory training.
If your Zag is currently studying abroad during the Spring 2017 semester, they can still apply for a position. Please have them complete the application and note that they are a study abroad applicant. We will Skype interview your Zag from where ever they are in the world.
We can’t wait to have your Zag welcome the Class of 2021!
