End of the Year Offerings from University Ministry
Our Commencement Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 3:30 PM in the McCarthey Athletic Center on the Gonzaga campus. This will be a celebration of ALL graduating students, undergraduate and graduate. It will be a profound Mass of thanksgiving for the blessings God has bestowed upon both graduates and their families. Music will be provided by the University Ministry Commencement Mass Choir, comprised of students from GU and Gonzaga Prep, faculty, staff and community members, along with the Spokane Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Greg Onofrio. The Mass will feature an address to the graduates by President McCulloh, a special blessing of the graduates and, of course, a Mother’s Day blessing. A reception will be held on the Herak Quad (center of campus, northwest of McCarthey), immediately after Mass.
Senior Reflection Series
University Ministry is offering a Senior Reflection Series, a new resource for seniors this spring. The Senior Reflection Series is an email series of reflections from staff, faculty and alumni, responding to the question: “What did you value most about your college experience, and what has it been like to incorporate that into life after graduation?” These offerings include reflection questions, which seniors can use for personal reflection or small group discussion with friends and classmates. Seniors can sign up by emailing Jeff Brogan at brogan@gonzaga.edu. Reflections will be offered, weekly, throughout the closing weeks of the spring semester.
Earth Week Programming
The Gonzaga CRS Ambassadors will be supporting Gonzaga’s Earth Week programming, with an event that highlights the global implications of climate change for those experiencing poverty. CRS Ambassadors is a national program organized by Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community of the United States. Through the CRS Student Ambassador program, colleges and universities form on-campus chapters of student leaders who are trained by CRS to mobilize their peers and bring life to the mission of global solidarity on campus. Earth Week will be marked on campus with a variety of programming, offered from April 18-22.
Christian Life Community Gala
Every year, the small groups on campus gather together to celebrate a year of walking together and sharing faith. It is a fun evening, filled with dancing, dessert and awards. The gala will be held on Friday, April 21 in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
CLC Service Week
Christian Life Communities have partnered with a local non-profit, Generation Alive, to raise money for people in the Spokane community who are food insecure. Generation Alive works with Second Harvest Food Bank to reach as many of the 74,410 people as possible. During our lunch hour on April 21, 2017 (same day as the CLC Gala), we will be hosting a packing event in Hemmingson Center with Generation Alive, to pack meals to help our struggling community members in Spokane. The meals will be going to Second Harvest Food Bank in Spokane. The bags that we pack can feed 8 people per bag and only cost 25¢ each.
