ZagAlert
Students Can Add Your Personal Contact Numbers to ZagAlert
ZagAlert is Gonzaga’s way of informing you of a life-threatening emergency situation. There are some changes this year and important actions for your student to take to stay informed and stay safe.
While your student’s Gonzaga email address is automatically imported into the system, the fastest way for them to receive alerts is via mobile phone. Students should log in to ZagWeb, select ZagAlert, and be sure an accurate mobile phone number is added, so they will receive text alerts. There are additional fields, so that numbers for family members can be added, as well.
A ZagAlert message will be sent in the event of a serious emergency on campus or in the nearby neighborhood, involving:
- Risk of injury or harm
- Risk of death or threat to life
- Campus Closure
New this year, you may also receive an Urgent Warning message. Such messages are sent when there is a potential threat to safety, health or normal campus operations. Urgent Warning messages could provide notice of serious crimes on or near campus, or offer preventative actions to take related to police activity, traffic issues or other situations impacting normal operations. ZagAlert and Urgent Warning messages will each be clearly marked as such on email, text and phone messages. You can read more about ZagAlert here.
We recommend adding a “ZagAlert” contact on your mobile phone. The mobile/SMS number is 23177 and the phone number is 509-313-5666 (Gonzaga’s emergency information number). This way, you will instantly recognize ZagAlert calls and text messages. And seconds count in an emergency.
