Celebrations
This month is a month of celebrations! We are celebrating the generous donors – including our parents – who make a Gonzaga education possible for so many students with their gifts. We wanted to also take an opportunity to celebrate some of the star students that are involved in helping to raise funds for the University through the Gonzaga Telefund program.
During the academic year, over 30 students involved in the Telefund program reach out to Gonzaga alumni, friends, and YOU – parents – to ask for support of the Annual Campaign. These students spend hours sharing campus updates and ask for participation with a gift. Did you know that more than 30% of current Gonzaga parents participate as donors to the Annual Campaign? Thank you!
Three callers have gone the extra mile this year and have collectively raised over $285,000 for scholarships and greatest needs on campus. We would love to share some positive conversations they have had with you, our generous Zag parents:
Callie Patton is a junior, majoring in Human Physiology. Currently the Telefund student supervisor, Callie has raised over $130,000 for Gonzaga. “I love speaking with parents! It is so fun to get to hear how Gonzaga is impacting not only their student, but also the parents as well.”
Caileen Cox is a sophomore, majoring in Business Administration. She has called for two years and has raised over $75,000 this year. “Parents are great to talk to because they love to hear about some of the activities and events going on around campus. I talked to a mom and asked how her son was enjoying Gonzaga and she said he was having the time of his life.”
Allyson is a sophomore, studying psychology. She is a student supervisor for the program and has raised over $80,000 for the program this year. “It is really exciting to be a current student calling because the calls become so personal. It is fun to talk to parents of my friends because it is exciting to actually meet them when they come to campus.” |

These students demonstrate philanthropy in action on Gonzaga’s campus. The dollars for scholarships directly impact their peers. When asked what philanthropy at Gonzaga means to them, Callie shared, “I would not have been able to come to Gonzaga without my scholarship support and I know that somebody made calls for me. It’s the least I can do to try to make someone’s Zag dreams a reality.” Caileen stated, “Gonzaga runs off philanthropy. Parents and alums are crucial to financial support and help ensure that we have enough scholarships for students who qualify academically to attend and that they have the same great experience as past Zags.”
On April 13, 2011, along with entire campus community, these students will participate in “Tomorrow Made Possible,” a day that signifies that the tomorrows of our students are realized because of donor support. You can learn more this donor celebration at www.gonzaga.edu/tm
