Action Items for Your Student’s Future
By: Meredith Aronson, Career & Professional Development
We had such a great time meeting many of you at Parent & Family Orientation at the end of August, but in case you weren’t able to join us please read on for some Parent & Family member action items!
The Career & Professional Development office deeply values the relationship we have with parents and families, and we feel that you are critical to our work. In addition to encouraging your own student through their career development journey, I invite you to join in Gonzaga’s efforts to prepare men and women for others in a few different ways.
Here are three simple ways we are looking forward to engaging with you:
- Become a mentor with Gonzaga Alumni Mentor Program (GAMP):Do you have insight to an industry or field that you’d like to share with a current student? Join GAMP to connect with a student interested in learning more about your field. Not a Zag alum? Not a problem! We welcome mentors from all academic and professional backgrounds. To sign up simply go to: zagsonline.org/gamp.
- Forward job and internship openings:Hear of a great opportunity that could fit for a new college grad? Or a fantastic internship program? We’d love to hear about it. Feel free to send them to me directly at: Aronson@gonzaga.edu.
- Join us on campus: If you know you are returning to visit your student and would love to share professional knowledge or advice, let us know! We can schedule a Brown Bag Lunch or a Coffee Chat. These easy and informal events are excellent opportunities to meet with students interested in learning more about your field.
Also, make sure these dates are on your student’s calendar:
- Spokane Trek Week: October 26-30
- Speed Mock Interviews: October 26, 5:30pm, Hemmingson Ballroom
