Summer is here! While you’re away feeling the sand beneath your toes, we’re hard at work preparing for the arrival of your students. Academic Services advisors have been in communication with your incoming student regarding their course selection for fall courses, and we’ve just about wrapped up the process. Here’s what’s to come:

  • Later this month, scores from Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams will arrive, and schedules will be given a final review, with any changes due to credit, made.
  • In early August (we’re shooting for August 2nd), schedules will be cleared for viewing by your student.  We’ll send them download instructions via e-mail, as well as a host of helpful information to read through.
  • Consider early registration for two specific programs designed to assist students achieve academic success:
        1. Coaching for Academic Success is a program that connects students to certified Academic Coaches for guidance, weekly check-ins, and academic skills development.  Any student can request a coach.  Students work with coaches on academic achievement, personal organization, goal setting, motivation, academic focus, fast-tracking academic and co-curricular activities, etc. Academic Success Coaches are juniors and seniors who are both successfully accomplishing academic and personal goals at Gonzaga, and
        • Your student will be receiving several surveys, beginning the week of July 19th.  One of these surveys will be sent on the evening of July 26th from Academic Services.  A response from your student is needed by July 30th.  This communication will be sent to their Gonzaga e-mail account, so please be sure they’ve taken the time to set up that account to receive this important information.

        1. Tutoring for Academic Success connects students to a certified, course specific Tutor for weekly one-on-one tutorial meetings.
        • When your son/daughter gets their schedule, we encourage you to hold off buying textbooks.  Your student may request changes to their schedule during our allotted Schedule Change Times.  Often, these changes can impact more than one course in their schedule, which will alter the books required, as these vary from professor to professor for many courses.
