Our Blog

Dear Parents,

We are very excited for your students to arrive and contribute to Gonzaga’s ongoing green efforts. The Ambassadors for Sustainability, a student led environmental committee, have been working tirelessly this summer to make GU a greener campus.  Some of our accomplishments include initiating an expanded recycling program, supporting new composting efforts, and researching how best to reduce Gonzaga’s carbon footprint.  We hope that you will complement our progress by encouraging your students to observe the following tips:

  1. Buy dorm room décor from a Goodwill or Salvation Army store.
  2. Invest in reusable dishes and silverware instead of paper or Styrofoam packs.
  3. Reduce cardboard waste by having your student pack as much as possible in pillow cases, suitcases, and laundry baskets.
  4. Remember that whatever your student brings in August must be dealt with during move-out in May; buy reusable and organic items when possible.

We look forward to meeting you and your family at Orientation 2010!

‘Sustainable is Beautiful
