What do the numbers 44 and 165,000 have in common? They represent the 44 students that received alumni scholarships for the 2011-2012 year, totaling $165,000 disbursed dollars to our students! If you have a student at Gonzaga that has a grandparent, parent, or sibling that has graduated from Gonzaga, they are eligible to apply for one of four possible amounts in Alumni dollars.

The Gonzaga Alumni Association has been awarding Alumni Scholarships since 1978 when we awarded three students $900 each. It may not seem like much, but Gonzaga was much less expensive in the 70s and the $900 scholarships got us started on a road of influence that is now stronger than ever for our students. In the past 33 years we’ve given students over one and a half million dollars in financial aid and we’re still going strong.

This year Gonzaga will be awarding several $2,500 and $5,000 scholarships, as well as one $10,000 scholarship and one $15,000 scholarship to qualified applicants. Students are eligible if they meet the following criteria:

  • Current fulltime undergraduate student
  • Son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, sister or brother of a Gonzaga alum.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.50
  • Completed application that answers all questions and criteria submitted to Alumni Office by January 20th, 2012.

If you’d like an application or information on how to donate to the Alumni Scholarship Fund, simply follow the instructions that are located at www.ZagsOnline.org/AlumniScholarship. Any questions can be directed to Bob Finn at 509-313-6100 or e-mailed to Finn@Gonzaga.edu.

Good luck and Merry Christmas!
