Take Action!

Let your legislators know that you care about student aid funding.

The 2012 legislative session is short!  Only 60 days.  Decisions about funding student aid will be made quickly.

In 2011 state legislators provided a modest increase for State Need Grant for Washington’s independent colleges students for 2012-2013.  This was one of the few programs for which the legislature provided an increase in a very difficult budget.

However, State Work-Study received a second significant cut.  And many are talking about eliminating the program.

Please let your elected officials know that State Need Grant and State Work-Study make a difference.

What can you do to help?

  1. Send a message to your legislators thanking them for prioritizing student aid, such as State Need Grant and State Work-Study, in the budget. Urge them not to make cuts in student aid.  Tell them your story, including how important financial aid is to you.
  2. Sign up to receive important alerts at the Legislative Action Center (here or at www.ICWashington.org/action) and we will contact you when further action is needed.
  3. Ask your family members and neighbors to contact their legislators to support students.
  4. Stay informed.  By becoming an advocate and subscriber, you will receive an update during the legislative session when we need your help again.

Thank you for supporting student financial aid.

Sincerely,

Violet Boyer
President and CEO
