Hello New Zag Parents and Families!

Welcome to Gonzaga! We are so excited for you and your student to join our Zag Family! We would like to introduce ourselves as the Orientation Core (O-Core) 2014. We are a group of senior students who work as a team to plan and carry out all of the programming and activities of New Student Orientation.

First, let us begin by saying “thank you.” Thank you for supporting your student in countless ways to arrive here. We would not be here if not for the love and conviction of our parents, family and friends; the role you have played in your student’s life is nothing short of incredible.

We have been working all summer to ensure New Student Orientation will provide a successful transition into college life. Each year, O-Core selects a theme that sets the tone for new students. This year, our theme is Ignite Your Spirit. O-Core aspires to provide opportunities of engagement between our new students and the GU community, learning from one another in reciprocal relationship through questioning, conversation, kinship, and support. New Student Orientation empowers students to ignite their Gonzaga spirit through intellectual, social, and personal development. New Zags will be called to embrace their experiences, learn about campus resources, and ignite their passions.

New Student Orientation is a full weekend of programming that takes place Friday, August 29 – Monday, September 1. From academic sessions to social activities, the weekend will be very busy and can seem overwhelming at times, but remember that this is the time for your new student to explore their own Gonzaga experience, and begin to ignite their spirit.

August 29 will be here before you know it, so enjoy the summer with your Zag! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We cannot wait to meet you!

Best,
Megan Soldati, Kevin McFeely, Garick Sherburn, and Meghan Montelibano
