academic convocationAcademic Convocation is a new student’s formal welcome into Gonzaga’s academic community. It is preceded by Welcome Walk, where students are cheered on as they accept the invitation into their academic journey here at GU. This event is succeeded by academic advising meetings, where new students will get time with their adviser and get to know them.

Academic Convocation takes place in St. Aloysius Parish on the last day of New Student Orientation, Monday, August 27, 2018 before classes begin. It is a mandatory event for all incoming Zags. The Academic Vice President will act as the Master of Ceremonies in presenting the Class of 2022 to the university faculty. A Jesuit, a faculty member and one exceptional senior student speaker will share their thoughts on the Gonzaga academic experience.

This event is for students, and because of that they are the only ones allowed into the event. However, if families wish to watch the event, it will be live streamed from the St. Aloysius website.
