Warning of a Common Scam on New College Students

We have learned of a scam that has been present over the past year or so where a  new student is contacted via zagmail about well paying jobs near campus. The student is asked to respond if interested and then told that they got the job. The student is then asked to send personal banking information to set up direct deposit payments. Then the student is asked for account log in information or to purchase expensive gift cards with their own money and respond with the gift card codes. This is a scam and is not in any way related to Gonzaga University. If your student encounters this scam, mark as spam and block sender from their zagmail. A message has been sent out to all zagmail recipients, but we wanted to put this on parents and families radar as well.
